I've just gone over the first part of the season finale again and it appears in Locke's first scene, (where walt appears to him) Locke's hear a mysterious voice as he is about to shoot himself and seconds before walt appears to him. The dramatic music subsides for a few seconds and we hear a women or a tanoy message. I singled out the message and put some gain on it

It gives me goosebumps esp after I read what hunterg wrote and listened to it.
All I have is a white box, nothing to listen to. This happens with about half of the items on your site for me anyway.

Didn't the writers say that the girl from Singapore who did Jack's tatoo would be in the finale? Of course we didn't see her. It sounds like her voice to me.

Actually "I have eternal hell to pay" makes more sense in terms of if it is said by Jacob... Jacob asked Locke for help before... so maybe this is Jacob explaining to Locke why he needs to help him!

It's definatley : I have eternal hell to pay. And I think it's the asian woman's voice. She told Jack before she did the tatoo that "There will be consequences, Jack." And this is the consequences. She'll have eternal hell to pay. Don't know what that has to do with Locke.
The writers are sly, but using the asian woman's voice for that is ridiculous. I'm open to most theories, but that's a reach.
OMG.. that so sounds like she's saying "I have eternal hell to pay". If this is the asian lady that did jacks tattoo, maybe this is somehow related to her punishment for doing a tattoo for an "outsider" which was forbidden.

Sorry, I don't get the 'hell to pay' thing at all . . .
It sounds to me like two different voices one softer and then one louder. The first, softer voice is incomprehensible to me. The louder voice says something like "I don't know lets see it." or 'I don't know what he's doing." Of course it's very hard to hear any words at all just going on sounds and syllables . . . we need a better audio capture.

I dont really here the eternal hell thing. It sounds to me like "why dont you kill yourself _____" I cant make out that last word clearly. Maybe their are two different sources on the island trying to control Locke? One responsible for the whisper and trying to get John to off himself and one controlling the Walt vision. The black smoke is most likely creating this vision of Walt and we already know it has a particular fondness for Locke.

But it is very difficult.
The two differing and opposing voices implied by both zodiac and yev would further explain the ongoing conflict between good and evil inherent in the plot.
I can hear "I have e-tern-al hell to pay and "Why don't you kill yourself for me." I would like to hear the audio reversed, though.
it doesn't seem to be reversed, but it definatly seems like there are two parts that overlap almost. Does anyone know what kind of software you'd use to try and clarify the audio, i was just playing with Nero's wave editor and i can't seem to get any of the filters to help too much.

What if the whispers represent the thoughts of people - Locke clearly thought he was special - and i'm sure he wanted to be saved - and right after he thought it, Walt appears and helps him.

Peter Namaste means something like WELCOME.

I know what Namaste means, I watch the show. I think the whispers are more of using Namaste like the way I would use "Boo-yah."

I go with the theory that it is whispering Naomi in some way or another. Rememer Locke ends up shooting her before she can use the phone. Maybe whatever is being said, is instruction, and walt is another manifestation, the island needs his help. His help to keep Dharma away? His help from the survivors? His help from the others? It all remains to be seen. Another thing to keep in mind, we stilldon't know anthing about the others that were on the island before Dharma came and about Jacob or any of the other mystical features of the island. And after the finale we're no closer to knowing. The big reveal is that the survivors indeed get off the island, and there are consequences. And for the record Sawyer's not in the box, Sawyer is the "he" that Kate mentions will find out about her meeting with Jack.
I can hear 2 Voices.

I can definitely hear a 'Help me' in there. The other voice (same voice?) speaking definitely sounds like it says 'I have hell to pay' but that doesn't make too much sense.

BTW, I have the updated flash and DSL and it's taking way too much time to open.
Somebody needs to take this into ProTools or another audio program and filter out the noise. Time consuming, yes, but needed.
I edited the part with
SoundForge(took over two hours!),
and it sounds like: "Naomi. Dharma,

Without a doubt, there are definitely TWO voices here. One is SLOWLY whispering "Help me!" which sounds logical, considering Locke's heard THAT before. The other voice is too indistinct to be heard, although I hear "Naomi..." something.
Since we know WHERE John went and WHAT he did immediately after the vision of Walt, it's clear that he was being told to "help Jacob" by killing Naomi, and once again John "listened to the Island," which he's been doing all series.
I don't think making out EXACTLY what the whispers say is as important as knowing that they told him what to do, and he did it.

I do NOT hear Hell.
You can clearly hear 2 syllables.
I can see, or hear actually, why people hear Naomi, but the Nigh/Nai sound from Naomi, is actually just "I".There is no "is" after Naomi.Its definitely "I have a final ___ to play".With ___ beeing either "role" or "blood".Mark my words :P

Well, try to hear "I have eternal hell to pay" and that's what you'll hear. Try to hear "I am ethernal, let's go play" and you will hear just that. Whatever you expect to hear, your mind makes your hear it. It's pretty much impossible to really tell what it was...

How did you manipulate it? Its completely impossible to hear in the episode. Trust me, I rewatched it 30 times (that part) and turned up my volume as loud as it could go... and I learn nothing but indistinguishable voices.

I have narrowed it down to being a composite of two voices that overlap a bit.
First is a quiet male voice saying: "Naomi's photo..."
Second is a louder female voice: "You don't have the faith !"
Let me amend that a bit.
Male whisper: "Naomi's photo..."
Louder female voice, sounding very accusatory: "You don't have *good* faith !"

In the end, we're left beleiving they get rescued, but I don't think they do. I think that Jack's rescue plan fails, at least this time as we know they eventually get rescued, but I don't think its this time.

As others have said it does make sense that Locke would hear something about Naomi, because why we would he kill her otherwise. I don't think he ever even saw her before that scene where he killed her and he's not a cold blooded killer, so he must have been "instructed" to do it. If it does say "Naomi, I don't know that name" then somehow Locke is hearing exactly what Charlie is hearing in the hatch. Somehow the transmission into the hatch is also being transmitted to some island "speaker" accidentally. Considering how everyone on this island is connected in one way or another, I think we'll find at the end of 2010 that this whole thing is just like the Truman Show and Kevin Bacon is the guy running it.

I'm convinced it's "Naomi--I don't know that name" even though the Naomi part is not that clear. When I first heard it I thought it was "I have eternal hell to pay" as the first posters suggested, but I knew that didn't quite fit because of the pauses and accents in the phrase. When I listen to it with "Naomi--I don't know that name" it flows very nicely.
The "Naomi" part is clear if you listen for it pronounced like a Brit..... "nye-OH-mee" instead of "nay-oh-me"
i've been studying this since i heard it in the episode live. After doing everything possible to clean it up, slowing it down a bit, running it through some filters (using nero wave editor, the best i could find) i would say my best guess is "Naomi, i don't know that name" although it's still not perfect it makes sense, as opposed to "I have eternal hell to pay" not that you can't hear that if you haven't altered it from the original. I dunno it's prolly not even a big deal. We'll all end up laughing about it in season 4 when they never mention it again.

The whispers say...
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IMPORTANT, just like every other time we heard these indecipherable whispers. It seems to me that you people are grasping at straws here. It sounds as if there are multiple voices and the sylables are so vague that I'm surprised DarkUFO even thought this could be an Easter Egg. You just want to hear something so badly that you're mind is making things up.
BUT THERE IS MEANING, it's just not in what the whispers say. The meaning lies in the presence of the whispers before that moment when Walt appeared. Instead of bickering over what the whispers say, we should all be pitching in on the connection between this appearence of Walt and the whispers. We should be anazlizing the other moments in which we heard the whispers, and theorizing as to how those moments may be connected with this one.
Don't be a sheep. Think people, think.
hey Leschinskis, we have like 9 months until the next episode, i don't see how trying to understand what the "whispers" said before Walt showed up is really something to get to uptight about.
I can't really hear anything, apart from 'Naiomi', and I doubt I would have heard that if I hadn't read other people's posts.
If Locke had heard something like 'Naiomi's not who you think she is', then it makes sense, that might be how Locke knew to kill her.

I have never been good at this, but I hear Naomi as well. I thought it was core that Locke just offed Naomi like that, like a boar. It's crazy that he got her in the back too. He must have some info to be making these choices. Who knows how long he and Walt chatted in the mystical jungle.
I have a feeling Walt is a manifestation of the island, so he'll be working in the island's interest. My guess is that Walt tells John that an enemy is coming to the island so they should be preparing for an assault.
Locke knows the Losties think they're getting rescued and are completely unprepared for an attack; and so very vulnerable. I think Locke straight axed Naomi to save everyone else (or the island), but it was just a trip to see it play out.
I wonder if John can hear the whispers? I don't think so because they were really going strong when he was laying in the dharma skeleton pit, and he was still about to kill himself with the conveniently placed handgun. It took pubescent Walt to snap him out of it.
I think there are two forces working on the island. One that wants it to be discovered, and one that doesn't. I'm not sure which is the bad one, that's a mystery that I'm hoping maybe the story of Jacob will reveal.

After listening and reading many of the comments, i have come up with my a different answer.
The first word is clearly Naomi, but the last word sounds to me like not name, or pay, but Penny.

And i'm not saying that is correct, its just what i heard. It is most probable, however, that it is "Naomi... I don't know that name."

The girl from Singapore did appear on the finale, I recognized her as one of the survivors when they are heading to the radio tower

I have been waiting 8 months for someone to dechipher that whisper..Finally someone gets it posted and link is gone...could someone point me to another (if possible) I'd love to hear it.
When Penny speaks to Charlie, right before he dies she says:

I find all these whispers bizarre.
if you rearrange the letters in Naomi's name, it spells "no ami" which means "no friend" in French!
