What if when Jack returns to the future he learns his father never really died. Would explain some of his comments in the S3 finale (go find my father, if he's drunker than me....) Would also explain whey he finally believes there is something "special" about the island and maybe his father tells his what is really going on and that makes Jack realize he has to go back to save the remaining survivors? Not really just, just kind of thinking out loud here...
jacobs eye kinda looks like Mikhail...

Here is a great cap of Christian Shephard in Jacob's cabin
It's definitely Christian
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/cupcakesaysmeow/facecabin.png
I think the eye looking out is Locke's. He was probably in there talking to Jacob (who is obviously Jacks dad)
Thanks for the picture blake and j, its been added.
cept it looks like he has hair, i thought it was desmond but then i was like that makes no sense
it's desmond's eye.
after looking at it a bit more tho it does look like lockes plus he did show up at the time so it could very well be him and he knows a bit more than he wants to reveal now.
Chitowncubs...can you please email me at mrtheodi@gmail.com...
thanks brotha'... :)

I think it is definitely Locke's eye... that was what I thought of immediately. And if Christian is Jacob, then not only can Hurley see him, Jack saw him on the island before too... Ben's got some competition. I noticed in a commercial that Christian was Jacob (hurray for rewind and pause live tv), but I thought maybe that was who Jack saw Jacob as... but Hurley saw him. Does anyone know if the actor playing Christian is credited for the episode?
i don't get it... that eye looks nothing at all like Locke!
It seemed to me that the whole cabin scene was another "Hurley sees dead people" I don't think Locke was in the cabin or was a part of the cabin scene. Didn't it go away after Hurley blinked? Maybe Shepherd is in the chair and it's Jacob's eye.
I think the eye is our good friend Patchy's. Take a close look.
pretty sure the producers said that Patchy was indeed dead after detonating a grenade in his hand.
Is it just me or does it look like Jack's eye? I understand that is tough to believe, but if the cabin disappears when Hugo closes his eyes perhaps it is not really there and this is something in Hugo's head.
Locke has green eyes (based on his eye shot in episode 1x04) and that eye appears to be green as well if you look hard enough (it is dark) and to me it just looks like Locke. I think he's there to get info from Jacob and figure out what he should do.
Fisher Stevens was in the cast list, yet didn't "appear". Maybe it's him?
As for the eye thing...Damon Lindelof or maybe Carlton Cuse (idk...who ever it was that did the commentary in The Man Behind the Curtain) said it was Jacob's eye-not Locke's or Ben.
i think the eye looks kinda like richard ( i think that's his name) the other who doesn't age
I think it looks like Jack. If time is all overlapped and loopy now that the fail safe key is gone, maybe Jack can be in many places at once.
I think it looks like Charlie's eye, actually. But I can see maybe Jack. It's not Locke--he has lines/crow's feet/whatever you want to call it around his eyes.
It's Jacobs house, it's Jacob's eye....he just had a guest over that night...he was nice to give Christian his only chair....how hospitable.
Seriously? That's Locke's eye. Why is anyone debating that?
And WOW! Guess the debate on Jacob is over. But how in the hell did Jack identify his body in Sydney? Christian Shepherd is dead!!
Looks like Jacks eyebrow to me and is Christian wearing the same tie that Jack is wearing in the scene where he's plying basketball with Hurley.
has anyone compared this eye shot with the Jacob shot from Man Behind the Curtain?
A side by side would be nice...
I tried it, and although I was convinced it was Locke's eye, now I don't think so. But I don't know who it could be. Maybe Jacob, and Christian is in the chair. I wouldn't be surprised if Locke wasn't in the room too.
Yes, I think Christian is dead, I also think he was sitting in that chair...based on that screen shot. Not sold though that Jacob and Christian are one in the same.
This is Locke's eye guys...

Oops, meant to include this too...here's a good one of Charlie's eye.... don't know why but looks like his eye to me.

never got it....hmmm...try again...

I am so confused, I guess this is what the writers want, for us to speculate and build up the hype for the show because of the mysteries. I think that we are not meant to understand whose eye it was or why Jack's dad was in the chair.
It is late at night here, and I am spooked thinking about that scene, and the moving shack!
Before visiting here though, I thought the eye was Locke's, and he was visiting with Jacob. I am not sure what it has to do with Christian Shepherd or why Hurley saw him...
if it is christian shephard, how come locke couldn't see him when he went to the house with been? how does he turn "invisible"?
I have to say - this definitely looks like Jack's eye... kinda would fit having 2 Jack's on the island - as there were 2 rabbits in the Dharma Orchard orientation video shown at Comic Con 07...
It all makes my brain hurt... Lost has the greatest writers on the planet.
It's Locke's eye people! In the dark anyones eye is going to look darker than it may normally look. Don't you think! It's Locke's eye!!!!Also as for Jack's dad being Jacob. It can't be, Jacob existed well before the plane crashed on the island, how could it be? Unless we have a Dread Pirate Roberts on our hands (from the Princess Bride)!!!!
I don't think it's locke's eye either. I saw a link somewhere with a screencap of locke's eye from when ben shot him and he landed in that pit, and the color, shape, eyelid, crows feet... nothing about that eye looks like locke.
* possible spoiler...*
I've read a theory that Jacob, since he is a ghost or whatever, stole the dead Jack Shepherd's corpse so that he could inhabit it instead of being invisible. Jacob is a spirit of some sort...
if you look at the pic of Mr Shepherd in the rocking chair, his face does look dead and expressionless...
Meant to say CHRISTIAN Shepherd, not Jack...
Also, what's with Jacob's floating/invisible house? Hurley stumbles upon it when Sawyer and the gang apparently didn't see anything, then Hurley runs maybe six feet from the house, turns around and the house is on his other side, then he closes his eyes for a few seconds and the house is nowhere...? Huh?
Darky, do you have a pic of Jacob's house?
Is it just me or did it seem very different this time.
thanks!
Just found it at lostmedia
my bad, they look the same
It's Jack's eye, now way it can be Locke's, i don't see how anyone can think its him.
ok please disregard my last statement, i could be wrong now that i look at it... for sure i have no clue.
i would be willing to put money down that it's not locke's eye... it looks more like paulo's eye than locke's for heaven sake.
but to each his own... i sense another 'locke pushed mikhail into the sonar fance! no locke was holding him back!' debate :P
Is clearly Jack's eye.
guys, you need to look at more than just the eye. look at the skin quality and the cheekbones. who on the island would look like that when they are wet? probably only desmond and patchy--i don't buy that he's dead for good, and it probably doesn't matter anyway seeing as the dead still get to do stuff on the island. also, is it just me, or does the lip look kind of messed up?
"That's no eye, it's a space station!"
But looking back to last season, the way this eye was showed, it's almost the same as in The Man Behind..
So, that would make it Christian and Jacob and we still don't know who Jacob is. Crap...
It's clearly Jacks eye...It's clearly Locke's, It's clearly Charlie...Please people. Until they decide to pan back and reveal this person...no one can know for sure.
I thought "for sure" that the arctic station guy and Jack were one in the same. I thought this was a flash forward at the end of Season 2. Have you all ever compared the photo?? Holy Cow they look the same...and you get to see the WHOLE FACE. Now it seems in summary episodes that the writers are confirming this was not a flash forward, rather this was real time...so it probably is not Jack.
i think the eye is desmonds
Jack was bringing his father's body back in a casket, wasn't he? Did the island (being the special island it is) bring his father back to life?
I think the eye looks like Mikhail as well.
I think the eye belongs to Ben's dad, Roger.

... I think it's Mikhael. I think Jacob and Ben had a falling out, and Mikhael now reports to Jacob (which may explain how Mikhael never dies)...
remember when Naomi said something in another language to Mikhael, and it was obvious he was covering for her? I think Jacob and Mikhael knew Naomi and her peeps were coming, and Ben doesn't like it.
her's a thought: maybe that cabin contains everyone the characters have seen at various times on the island. could the ye be hurley's imaginary friend dave's?
cool point melissadab!
But Locke did not seem to like Naomi and seems to be on Jacobs side. So I can't see how Naomi or Mikhael would be working for Jacob. Mikeal killed Charlie...was that what Jacob wanted? Seems those were Ben's orders, and I understand Mikheal may not have been aware that Ben may be corrupt. Naomi needed that signal...but that required Charlies assistance. Too many conflicting issues in that theory to know for sure :)
Ummm...Mikhail was sorta holding a grenade up to a window underwater and then it exploded...
But if you all think that someone can survive that then...
ok.
Its not locke - John has silvery beard stubble and no hair. This face has a black 'prince valiant' haircut - and looks more like Ben's father when he was younger.
Its not Mikhail for the same reasons: silvery beard stubble and little to no hair.
Its not desmond because Des has curly dark bangs that almost reach his eyes. This has no long bangs in the front.
The mouth is either very badly injured (looks like scarring from a fire), or he has something over it. The nose is also damaged and scarred in some way, which you can see in BOTH photos.
It looks to me like either Ben's father, or the doctor from the dharma instructional videos.
i just looked up some pictures of john gries, the guy who played ben's father, and that doesn't look like his eye. this eye seems to slant kinda upwards, where his eyes have a downward droop.
What if I told you that somewhere on this island there is a box. And inside that box is whatever you want to find inside of it.
Maybe the box is Jacob's shack. It was rather square.
Here's a thought-- The island has more power than anyone knows- but we do know that it has the power to make people see certain things.... Jack- his dad, Kate- a horse, Hurley- dave, etc, etc. Why can't it be that the island needed hurley to see this. We don't need a reason why yet- it took a while with everyone else. But, there is a reason. Jacob is part of the island. He is NOT sheppard- that's just the form he chose for this vision. The cabin wasn't there. Lock wasn't in the cabin (even tho it was his eye). It's what the island/jacob wanted hurley to see at this time. we'll know why later..... just a thought. My big theory- is that the island need a triad to survive.... Body, Mind, and Spirit... Hurley is more important to the island than anyone knows... Lock is the body, Walt (who will be back :)) is the mind, and hurley is the spirit....
nuclearradi0, Fisher Stevens was the person they spoke to on the phone, Minkowski
I"m going to rule out any of the Losties and the Others. Ben said only he talked to Jacob. I don't think it looks like Locke's eye. It looks kind of like Jack's but I don't think that would be cool if it was his.
vncntvale, how can you explain mikhael surviving the electrocution? We saw what happened to him at the electric fence... there's no way he can get up and start running around after that. so why couldn't he survive throwing a grenade?
On second glance, this COULD BE Desmond... and I have a theory...
First, the eyes do match. Second... cloning has become an increasing theory on LOST. Remember Dr. Candle and the identical cloned bunnies? And who here has read "Bad Twin" by Gary Troup, a novel put out through LOST's marketing back in 04/05? Why all this background on cloning if it wasn't going to go anywhere?
Here's my theory:
Mr. Widemore, as we know, is behind getting Desmond on that island, to get him away from Penelope. Well, what if he knew that Penny was getting close to finding Desmond? Maybe the Others somehow worked on cloning him so that when Penny finds him, Desmond's "clone" can be programmed to break up with her?
I know it's a stretch, but this may explain why Desmond can suddenly go back in time and has flashes of the future... it has something to do with his clone having lived all of it over again...
so could this be Desmond's "clone" or "bad twin" in the cabin with Jacob?
The eyes really do look that much alike... check this pic...

well said kassie84
As for the Mikheal thing...he said in season 3 in some scene something to the effect "good thing the power was not all the way up" So you gather he got hurt in the supersonic fence but did not die. "he healed quickly" I don't know much about grenades blowing up in water...but my guess is he is dead.
My sister and I were talking about the guy in the chair being Christian Shephard, and when I mentioned his name to her, she happened to hear it as not being a name, but instead as the two separate words that it is and we were thinking about how if you consider Jacob in the biblical sense of the name, then when he wanted to marry he had to work as a shepherd of a flock for his father-in-law for 7 years before he was given a blessing to marry the guy's daughter, and he is therfore a Christian shepherd. Just thought that was sort of interesting.
Maybe it's Jack's "bad twin" and he's really in the Black Lodge with the good Dale Cooper. I s'pose we'll be seeing a backwards midget soon...
...after all, Twin Peaks never did end. =O)
Another proof for the man in the Jackobs house is Jack's father is.. Look at mobisode 13 with Jack father, at 35 second.. look at his shoes, its the same shoes who has Man in Jackobs House :)
Is there any significance to the Dog Painting? Besides the fact that it's a Basset Hound, and they are my favorite pups!
I personally think its Desmond. If u look back on Season 2, when Jack sees Desmond in the swan hatch & Jack says 'You' u can see clearly the pic of this eye!!
its desmond! it definitly isnt locke since this person hs hair. i also dont know how you were able to see that it was jacks father, since in the copy that i have it stays dark
THE Eye kinda looks like walt!
I am guessing that the eye we saw looking at Hurley is also Hurley (future self, past self, alternate self, his own form taken by someone else, a metaphore, etc...)
hey :) I think that the eye was his http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Marvin_Candle because it's like japan-look, well, you know like people look in those places :D
The figure seems to have a full head of hair, because if you freeze-frame it - the shadow of the head resemble hair past the background - this is hard to explain, but try it and you'll see.
I'm still thinking it's Jack - BUT I'm not 100% sure... It's definitely not Locke, could be Desmond though... OR it's just Jacob who we haven't met yet.
Anyways - i did a comparison of Jack's eye in a different scene... check it out:
http://enochphotography.blogspot.com/2008/02/lost-whos-eye-in-cabin.html
When Hurley gets separated from the group during "Beginning of the End", Jacob's cabin appears before him. When Hurley looks in the window, he sees Christian Shephard sitting in Jacob's rocking chair, donning the same suit, tie, and shoes from prior seasons. ("The Beginning of the End")

Did anyone else notice that in the painting of the dog, the right front foot looks more like a human leg and the foot actually has 4 toes?
I was almost sure that it was either Jack or Desmond's eye but after lightning up the picture the eye is definitely green. So who has the green eyes?
Link to lightened pic of eye.
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/7272/eyemb2.png
It is so Jack. I've been gazing into Matthew Fox's eyes since PO5 so I clearly know what I'm talking about!
Best side by side comparision I found. I'd say it's Locke's. The eye brow is exactly the same.
SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE EYE!!! Ignore the Jacob comparision at the top (if you can)
http://lost.cubit.net/images/index/covers/4x01_cabinCloserLook.jpg
If you look at the actual picture before it was "lightened up" or enhanced, because that can take on someones individual interpretation, it looks more like Jeff Fahey (Frank the pilot) than Christian. Right down to the line across the nose.
