I was just wondering if you had any info on a question I had posted at another site that I never got any answer for.
Did anyone notice in the scene where Karl got shot and Danielle was trying to calm Alex down, there appeared to be something in front of Alex’s ear, like a microphone? It doesn’t look like an earring (maybe it some type of wrap at the end of her hair?)

There's a clearer photo in the "On The Island" screenshots...
I didn't notice that, but I did see something in Karl's ear as he keeled over. It looked more like an earplug than an earpiece, though.

Oh come on you guys, it's a headset.
It's just an earring attached higher up on the lobe than people are used to seeing, and then dangling down. Not a bluetooth or whatever.
I think karls was just so the production people could tell the actor when to die, and that was a mistake
but for alex, i think that was deliberate.
Can we see her ears before jungle trip?

They might have needed to put a microphone on the actress so they wouldn't need to loop the dialogue.

i don't understand why they would be so sloppy about showing this.
its not only something that us people who search for these things would find, its like super clear. and super confusing at the same time.
i agree with saraH ... they are not that sloppy to just miss it while editing. they know the fans see things like this. if it is a microphone or whatever it was deliberate.
although it could just be an earring and its getting all our panties in a bunch!!

at this angle it looks like a dart
it does look like a dart in that last photo, but it also looks like a tiny microphone. I think this is the episode edited during the strike. you can totally tell that it's not an earring. It's an over the ear microphone, a professional one.

It's definitely a lavalier style microphone. It's true that there are some that are more easily concealed that what we see here. This is interesting. The black piece looks like the windscreen from the sennheiser me-2 lavalier microphone.
They are used to eliminate the need to replace all dialogue production audio via ADR (automated dialogue replacement)
Seems like sloppy production but is curiously gold colored and therefore made to look like jewelry.
I think it just slipped down from her hair where they usually are planted.
IMO of course ;) I do have professional experience with production audio.

Looks like a hair wrap to me a lot of girls wear them (not usually so short) looks like it has a bead on the end. Maybe Karl had one too???
Its just a hair charm. You can clearly see this during the episode.
well of course you THINK its a hair charm while you're watching the episode! but we've got to analyze it, pick it apart, and figure out what it REALLY is! lol. i'm crazy.

If you look at the other screen cap farther down, it shows it much clearer. It looks like she has a tiny braid in her hair and the object we see it the "capper" for the end of the braid.

Sorry for calling names, I've been having a rough week. I admit it it's a hard to see exactly what it is near Alex's ear, but I am 100% sure that those are jewelry beads in her hair.

Haha I noticed that too but forgot about it until now.
That is SO NOT a microphone.
First, shows like this do not use lavolier mics. They use boom mics, mostly.
Second, you'd never pick up clean sound from something hanging off someone's ear that gets tussled amongst their hair. Lav mics get put on people's lapels for a reason: directionality.
Third, that ain't a mic. I know mics.
It looks like a tragus piercing...it looks just like MY tragus piercing actually. It's the inner cartilage that attaches at the side of your head. Mine's a silver hoop with a bead on it and it dangles a little bit. Looks very similar if not identical.
