What is the average lifespan of a cat? If this were the same cat in Sayid's flashback, wouldn't it be dead by now?

I suspect the Lost folks don't know cats. But I give them one star for trying.
It's so true to what amira syas about her cat. I rescued mine and for no reason she'll bite me and then lick me. I always forgive her because it's as if her licking me is her saying sorry for biting me int he first place lol. The cat is beatiful though pretty green eyes. Hey did nadia(sayids nadia) have green eyes?

Thanks for this one Dark....Are we to beleive that it is the same cat as in the flashback?....thats what i thought but the cats in these screencaps look different....The one from the "flashback" has gray on its entire nose, while the island cat's nose is white......

But i too think that the cat could be smokie! remember he can shift shapes and read into peoples thoughts mayeb he took that from desmonds flashback! and thats how the cat is on the island!

the iraqi woman's cat was male and has a dark grey nose. "nadia" is apparently female and has a white nose. different cats durrr.

Funny how the cat was named Nadia, the same name as Nadia from the other episode with Sayid where he had tortured and loved Nadia.
Since the others know the history of the 815ers...
I belive the cat was planted as a mind-test. Sayid promised never to hurt another woman again and he swore off torture. The cat was a reminder of that promise. Patchy was testing to see if he would follow through..
I think "just saving the world" isn't from a bomb or anything...its saving the world of its humanity. Each 815er has a huministic lesson learned while on the island...
Nadia the Cat was Smokey the Smoke Monster. Come on, Sayid din't kill Mikhail and his flashback was that of a vitim he once tortured, forgiving him and letting him go. If Sayid would have killed Mikhail, Smokey would have killed Sayid.
Much like Eko...where he did not apologize for killing and would do it again if he had to. Sayid, on the other hand chose not to kill Mikhail.
Anyone else bothered by the fact that Sayid didn't just fess up to the toturing before the woman's little cat speech? Did he really tortue that woman?
How could the cat be Smokie? It's Patchy's cat! Patchy named it after the Romanian gymnist! That's more ridiculous than saying that Vincent is the smoke monster, too.

Animals have proved very important during the survivor's time on the Island (for spiritual guidance or simply for moral support according to Carlton Cuse)
Why would the same cat be on the Island? Its obviously either a dramatic coincidence, or its ol' Smokey popping up in an animal form, similar to the way walt's dog is proabably Smokey too.
I am starting to think people see what they want to see on the island- kate sees a horse thinks it is her horse, sayid sees the cat- thinks it's his cat- eko sees the plane- it's his bros plane. what i don't understand is how everyone else sees it too.
because we have seen evidence of it with eko. Smokey can shape shift and kill your ass in 2 seconds flat. So as an audience we question who or what is smokey?
I can buy into that we are seeing the flasbacks through smokey's eyes.....There is always that noise that sounds like a wind picking up as we cut to a flashback....anybody know that the significance of the sound??
Doesn't look like the same cat. Her cat has a dark bridge of the nose between the eyes. Not that it matters. Probably just a similar cat to trigger his memories.
For what it is worth, I think it is the same cat, the stripes on the forehead are similar, as is the long chest fur. The difference comes in as the light is hitting the cat differently on every picture. Ine is a flashlight, one is indoor light, and one is outdoor light.
In chat yesterday, someone said that they thought the cat on the island was the Cerberus/smokey. I think that's a possibility.

I agree that Sayid seeing the cat has the same significance as Kate seeing the horse. What that significance is, we have yet to see.
Not the same cat (facial patterns are very different) and not the smoke monster. Just a way to tie the 2 time periods together.
Sally., about the markings on the cat. They are typical of all tabbies, whether long-hair short-hair, or coloring. All tabbies have that marking. It's an "M" Just so you know.
Those were two different cats, although very similar in appearance. One on the island has a pink nose and white bridge. the other is darker. It's not the lighting.
But, it's not out of line of production to use different animals to do different things. They use look-a-likes. One cat stand to be held. Another will not let you, yet another can do other things, etc. Like Lassie, there were many Lassies lol to portray one dog.

I just think it's great that the "other" side of the pet kingdom get's to be on the island, I think it's about time vincent got a rival.

Cat on far left in pic...yellow eyes, a lot of pink nose and tanish tinge to fur and a lot of white on chest and belly. Black slash by legs is lower.
Cat on far right Green eyes, small pink nose. Grey wraps around almost to belly....black slash marks on legs higher.
Cat in the middle, tiny pink nose, very little white on bridge of nose and a different color to boot.

Well the reason smokie didnt appear might of been because sayid in his past admitted to doing wrong to the woman and apologised!! where EKO didn't and wouldn't say sorry so Smokie got a bit VEXED swung him round a bit then killed him!
who knows about the cat being the smoke monster its possible? the cat survived he/she didnt get blown up along with yet another station that was short lived!!
and as for there being different cats! its a tv show not actually real so they prob have a range of cats lined up all for you to play you into thier trap to take ur mind of other things?

If it was the same cat, they would have used the same one, not one that looked different. The woman's cat has dark grey markings on the bridge of it's nose. The Russian Guys cat has only white on the bridge of it's nose and the white markings extend upwards past it's left eye. please take a look.
Of course it's a different ruddy cat! Flashback cat lives in Paris and Island cat was recruited by the others as part of their evil plan.

Indeed, the yellow and green eyes differs, but it could be light or CGI, but the cat with its eyes closed really has a dark fur just above his nose, and the other two have white fur.
Remember when we saw Eko's life in the smoke? And Locke saying he looked in the island's eyes and it was beautiful?
IMHO, they used at least 2 cats to make us wonder: Was it by accident? (I dont thin so.)
Was Smokey? (Copying badly Sayid's memories, he was really under pressure in both moments.)

I think they are 3 diff cats... they all look different... and the cat on the island is not the cat from Sayid's past.. like someone said earlier just a way to tie in the flashback. I think there were 2 cats w/ Patchy.. why not when we know there were at least 2 polar bears, and we have now seen 2 horses on the island...

hey i think its simply a segway the producers used to lead into/ connect to sayids flashbacks. he see it- it reminds him of the cat in paris. we follow his train of thought into the flashbacks. same with nadia and the gymnast nadia- just a something for sayid to make a connection to his past with
Exactly! It's meant to be a segue. Seems this was (ahem) lost on a few people though.
The 2 smaller pictures have different lighting, hence the 2 different 'hues' to the cats fur.
Why would there be 3 cats or why would it be smokey? Any logical answers?

It is the presence of the cat at the Flame station which triggers Sayid's flashback.

Did anyone else think that Amira sat in a position of power and petting a fuzzy cat was playing a parody of Blofeld to Sayid's captured Bond? I couldn't help smirking.

Ummmm, Vincent IS Smokey. Look, I've batted theories about since this started, and always been willing to see problems in them, but for once I am going to state my assumption as fact (then when it turns out to be spot on you can all look on in wonder :) )
In a future episode Vincent will be found decomposing and very definatly dead. Cut to a shot of 'Vincent' standing in the trees watching the person who finds the body (and cue that dzing, dzing music).
As for the cat, it's difficult to say. More than one cat will have been used so who knows whether they are meant to be the same cat? I mean, I would be suprised if there was only one Aaron, but that doesn't mean Clare secretly gave birth to twins...

This is completly random, I dont know if the breed of the cat is important, or even worth mentioning, But I m almost sure this cat ,is a Norwegian Forest Cat, I my self have one, and they look identical, build, colouring and size.
